DSA Phototech announced the completion of a large format LED light box installation for a new visitor exhibit at Seattle's iconic Space Needle. This innovative project involved the design and creation of 15 custom light boxes. To complete the project, DSA Phototech worked closely with two exhibit firms. Storyline Studio handled the exhibit concept and design, and Group Delphi managed the overall project and was responsible for fabrication and installation.
Through the presentation, visitors to the Space Needle can learn about the history of the Space Needle through an interactive and engaging exhibit. The LED light boxes feature curved extrusions in trapezoidal shapes, interactive mounts and multilevel imagery.

The Space Needle installation had a big story to tell. However, the physical location was challenging. The location, a curved, tilting glass-enclosed pavilion without any straight lines, brought out the best of DSA Phototech's creativity. The team developed mechanical drawings, sourced material vendors and built several prototypes as the final design evolved.
The creation of unique large format LED light boxes based on Storyline Studios' exhibit design concept serves to highlight the extent of DSA Phototech's custom manufacturing capabilities. President Bob Riley noted, "Our team relished the challenge and was thrilled by the final results, which everyone involved felt was captivating and helped to showcase the impressive history of the Space Needle. Those interested in seeing the extent and scope of our capabilities should look to this project."
Regarding DSA's role in the Space Needle project, Bill Smith, Principal and Founder at Storyline Studio noted, "Building lightboxes that curved and tilted at the same time was definitely a challenge. We knew that we needed a team that could think innovatively and frankly, wasn't afraid of the challenge. With DSA we just knew they were the right firm to handle the complexities of this project. This project would just not have been possible without DSA."
