First Printer In India With Two-Module LED-UV Curing System From AMS Spectral UV Shares Results

AB Print Pack of Delhi has become the first packaging printer in India to have a press equipped with a two-module LED-UV curing system from AMS Spectral UV – A Baldwin Technology Company, according to the country’s exclusive provider of the leading LED-UV curing technology, APL Machinery of Faridabad.

The LED-UV curing technology, which solidifies inks and coatings as part of the printing process, replaces conventional UV and IR systems with a more eco-friendly, energy saving method. AB Print Pack’s 40” Heidelberg CD102 features one 40” LED-UV module from AMS Spectral UV installed after the white ink station, and a second stationed end-of-press; this module handles curing of both CMYK and coating applications on METPET, PET and board substrates.

So far, the company has experienced positive results since the change to LED-UV technology. They report drastically lowered energy use – only 53kW required to run the press, the LED-UV system and the AC in the pressroom – while achieving speeds of 14,000 IPH with the new setup.

Additionally, according to the printer, customers no longer wish to have their products printed with conventional UV methods, after seeing the superior results that LED-UV curing provides. They say that on most substrates, the LED-UV cured inks are brighter, glossier and more visually pleasing overall.
