HC Semitek Makes Big Push for Advanced Semiconductors Including Micro LED, VCSEL, IR LED

Chinese LED maker HC Semitek announced it has signed an investment framework agreement to establish projects of advanced semiconductors and devices in the Yiwu Information and Optoelectronics Hi-Tech Industrial Park. The signing of the agreement was witnessed by the Yiwu Municipal People’s Government.

Those new projects that HC Semitek intends to build in the district will develop and manufacture key components including: 1) LED wafers and chips, 2) sapphire substrates, 3) UV LED, 4) infrared LED, 5) Micro LED, 6) MEM sensors, 7) VCSELs, 8) GaN lasers, and 9) GaN-based power electronic devices.  

HC Semitek has spent RMB 10.8 billion in total on the grand expansion. It will utilize an area of up to 500 acres and the construction is expected to complete in 2025.

The company said that the establishment is in accordance with its strategic planning for future growth. The agreement will not affect the Chinese firm’s financial performance in 2018 but will benefit its long-term growth.
