Eaton Introduces Unique Approach to Integrated Smart Lighting and Home Automation

Power management company Eaton announced the launch of Halo Home, a Bluetooth mesh, smart lighting system that allows homeowners to automate and control one light or a host of lighting products throughout the home using a smart mobile device. A home can have more than 100 lighting products, and homeowners are turning to connected lighting products for better functionality, security and safety, as well as lifestyle enrichment and wellness.

“Halo Home is a unique approach to smart lighting. Where many in the lighting industry have taken a switch, bulb or fixture and made it wireless, we have built the Halo Home system through the eyes of the consumer, to provide a superior connected experience,” said Brad Paine, vice president and general manager, Residential Solutions, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “Homeowners think about their lighting in terms of rooms or spaces, with each room consisting of multiple lightings products: controls, fixtures and lamps. Halo Home offers a complete package of integrated Bluetooth products that all work seamlessly together, whereas most other systems only offer a dimmer or a light bulb.”

Utilizing the advanced technology of Bluetooth mesh allows Halo Home to be installed and controlled directly from the mobile device, without needing a hub or gateway. The optional internet access bridge provides WiFi connectivity, enabling remote access to the lights and integration with Amazon Echo products for voice control capabilities. Halo Home, which currently includes 4-inch and 5/6-inch downlights, a Smart Anyplace Bluetooth Dimmer and an optional internet access bridge, is a simple and flexible connected option, with the ability install as little as one downlight or scale up to control the entire home through the easy-to-use Halo Home app for iOS or Android.

Eaton has immediate plans to expand the system and will soon release the second set of Halo Home products, including in-wall wireless dimmers, outdoor flood and motion lights, a wall-plug for lamps, and a wireless adaptor that enables retrofitting non-wireless lighting fixtures.

“Our goal is to provide the absolute best smart lighting experience for customers, offering a full suite of lighting products to cover the entire home,” added Paine.
