Nichia Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against ASUS JAPAN and Its Distributor

On May 18, 2018, Nichia Corporation (“Nichia”) filed a patent infringement lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court against ASUS JAPAN Inc., a Japanese affiliate of Taiwanese ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (“ASUS”), and SYNNEX Infotec Corporation, a distributor of ASUS JAPAN Inc., seeking a compensation for damages.

The accused products, against which Nichia seeks a compensation for damages in this lawsuit, are ASUS’s smartphones, ZenFone Go (ZB551KL、ZC500TG) and ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL), equipped with white LED for flash light, which Nichia believes infringed its patents JP5177317 and JP5610056.

Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
