The Belgium based nano-electronic center, Imec and the Taiwan based semiconductor equipment supplier Marketech International Corp are reportedly to collaborate for developing a testing chip implantation equipment for Micro LED manufacturing.
Marketech was acquired by Ennoconn Corp, an industrial computer manufacturing firm and a member of Foxconn Technology Group. The Foxconn group has been preparing its capacity to boost the development of Micro LED and its investment in eLux, the U.S. startup who owns more than 20 patents on the fluidic assembly method developed for Micro LED displays. The company has been regarded as a key player of Foxconn’s Micro LED industry strategies. Paul Schuele, the founder and CTO of eLux, has presented the new breakthrough of fluidic assembly at this year’s Micro LEDforum and discussed its potential for realizing maximized assembly speed.
With the cooperation between Imec and Marketech on Micro LED equipment, the Foxconn group will have a better chance to enhance its development of Micro LED technologies.
To collect and share more insights of Micro LED technologies, LEDinside is currently hosting the 2018 Micro LED Technology Research Contest and would like to invite companies, academic institutions and other corporate entities to submit abstracts or outlines of their latest technical papers related to innovative Micro LED technologies.
