STG Aerospace Demonstrates Holistic Cabin Lighting

STG Aerospace, a world leader in pioneering aircraft lighting technologies, is delighted to announce the completed installation of a saf-Tglo™ SuperSeal UltraLite™ (SSUL) emergency floorpath marking system with OverCarpet and a liTeMood® LED cabin lighting system on the Boeing 757-200 operated by DreamJet trading as La Compagnie. La Compagnie operates scheduled flights to New York from both Paris and London, business class only. The 757 aircraft’s cabin is fully equipped in a business-class configuration with only 74 lie-flat seats.

Installing both systems enabled STG Aerospace to demonstrate its holistic approach to cabin lighting – ensuring that different areas of lighting within the cabin are not only task-optimised but also integrated and optimised within an overall cabin aesthetic that enhances both the passenger experience and the airline’s brand identity.

saf-Tglo™ SSUL, a low-cost, low-weight alternative to electrical emergency systems, is the lightest, highest performing and most discrete photoluminescent system available.  Featuring a unique, fully-sealed design which completely eliminates the risk of fluid ingress and reduces maintenance costs by up to 80%, SSUL has no power source. As a result, it is 100% reliable, eliminating the operational delays and AOG’s associated with electrical based systems. Incorporating all the benefits of previous designs, SSUL is 70% lighter than previous versions – helping to reduce airline fuel costs even further – and has a 17% higher luminosity rating.

Certified by the EASA and FAA, SSUL is the latest version of STG Aerospace’s saf-Tglo™ – a product that is currently installed on over 9,000 aircraft worldwide. SSUL will be an option for airlines to select on new Boeing 737 MAX and Embraer E2 aircraft and is fully certified and available for retrofit.

STG Aerospace offers over 300 colour options for saf-Tglo™ SSUL, enabling airlines to achieve an aesthetic, co-ordinated cabin interior without reducing safety, and DreamJet trading as La Compagnie is also the first airline to install the SSUL OverCarpet (OC) option. Featuring a hinged-wing design that removes the need for any binding of carpet edges, OverCarpet provides the best possible appearance in the cabin whilst also reducing costs.

liTeMood® is a plug-and-play, programmable, blue/white LED cabin lighting system. Cost-effective, versatile and controllable, liTeMood® enables airlines to bring the  lighting quality of non-LED equipped aircraft cabins up to the same standard as the very latest new aircraft, helping them achieve impactful brand differentiation and increase airline yields.

Incorporating the latest research into the effects of ambient lighting, liTeMood® also provides significantly increased reliability over traditional lighting systems, thereby reducing ongoing maintenance costs whilst also delivering important environmental benefits.  Not only is liTeMood® up to 40kg lighter than original-fit fluorescent lighting, it also consumes 70% less power, increasing both the aircraft’s fuel and electrical efficiency.

Yann Poudoulec, EVP Technical of DreamJet trading as La Compagnie commented:

“We were delighted by the ease with which the saf-Tglo™ SSUL and liTeMood® systems were installed and by the transformative effect they have had on our 757’s cabin lighting. Operating an all-business class airline means we have to pay particular attention to lighting quality and we’re more than confident that we have made the right choice with STG Aerospace.”

Marcus Williams, Director of Sales & Marketing at STG Aerospace, added:

“Ensuring a successful installation is always of paramount importance to us, especially in this case which is the first time we have completed a combined liTeMood® and saf-Tglo™ installation.  It is critical to understand the effect of an LED upgrade on the compliance of the emergency systems.  We are delighted that DreamJet trusted us to install the latest generation LED and photoluminescent systems available, combining the two industry-leading systems to provide LED lighting that enhances the cabin aesthetics and ensures regulatory compliance.”
