Trinseo to Demonstrates New Patent-Pending Technology at Strategies in Light

Trinseo, the global materials company and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber, will highlight its global locations for plastics development at Strategies in Light, Santa Clara, California. The show runs from March 1 to 3, 2016, and Trinseo will exhibit at Booth 414.

Trinseo's R&D centers in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific have been focused on innovative and custom polycarbonate-based compounds for the LED lighting industry for more than a decade. The company’s dominant markets have been in North America and Asia Pacific.

According to Bill Marshall, senior account manager of LED lighting at Trinseo, “The LED marketplace is global and dynamic, and it’s not uncommon to see companies specifying material in one region and manufacturing in another. Trinseo’s advantage is we’re global in our infrastructure and agile in our service model. This allows us to be lightening quick in our responsiveness and flexible enough to partner with companies globally on new and innovative solutions.

Trinseo’s materials, CALIBRE™ Polycarbonate Resins and EMERGE™ Advanced Resins, are used routinely in lenses, covers, housings, and reflectors. They are specified by a blue chip list of customers for their ability to address critical industry needs, including thinner gauge plastics, lighter weight materials, design freedom, and superior optics.

At Strategies in Light, the company will highlight its newest patent-pending technology for lighting, EMERGE™ 8830 LT Advanced Resin. This advanced resin is an innovative transparent polycarbonate that balances the properties of transparency, thickness and ignition resistance. Nearly as transparent as glass, the material is unique in that it has earned a UL 94 rating of V-0 at 1.0 mm and a 5VA rating at 2.5 mm. Trinseo will also showcase its ignition resistant EMERGE™ 8130 Advanced Resin series of light diffusion and high reflectivity white materials.

In addition, Trinseo will showcase its Predictive Simulation capability which offers designers a cost-effective, virtual approach to designing an application without spending time, materials or production effort on an approach that could prove to be unsuccessful. Long used for its automotive customers, Trinseo’s Predictive Simulation capability is highly effective for the consumer markets it supports, particularly those in the lighting industry that require expediency and cost effective development.
