Sony’s Micro LED Display CLEDIS Selected by Dutch Company

Sony has first showcase its Crystal LED Display at CES 2012 and announced the launch of CLEDIS (Crystal LED Integrated Structure) Micro-LED panels in 2017. By now, it is available for custom applications.

EDGE Technologies, the Netherlands-based sustainable building developer, has installed Sony’s Crystal LED display at its headquarter, the EDGE Olympic office building in Amsterdam.

EDGE Technologies has invested in the new technology to create the next-generation office environment with the modular panels, measuring 403×453mm each and packing 320×360 RGB LED pixels at a pitch of 1.25mm. In the center of its Tech Board Room, a giant 3.2x1.8m Crystal LED display boasting 2560x1440 resolution creates a spectacular canvas for showcasing the firm’s creative work.

Erik Ubels, CTO at EDGE Technologies, said, “Having worked with Sony in the past, we knew immediately that they were the right technology partner to help us bring our vision to life and that Crystal LED needed to be part of our flagship EDGE Olympic. Crystal LED represents a whole new world for large scale displays - and with it - we can set a new standard for immersive visual experiences at our HQ.”

The new EDGE Olympic building has smart technology at its core and is based on a digital infrastructure that connects everything and everyone within its walls. A smartphone app lets users personalize their workplace, with the possibility to customize the lighting, temperature, humidity and CO2 levels. This same technology also lets users find their colleagues quickly, monitor occupancy rates, access the car park and reserve meeting rooms.
