Changelight Orders MOCVD System for Mini LED from AIXTRON

AIXTRON, a German deposition equipment supplier reported that the Chinese chip maker Changelight has ordered AIX 2800G4-TM MOCVD systems to expand its production capacities for arsenide-phosphide-based red, orange and yellow LEDs (ROY LED) and solar cells.

According to AIXTRON, the company will deliver the tools to the customer between 3Q18 and 1Q19. The ordered systems all have a 15x4 inches wafer configuration which increases yield at a good quality level. Dr. Bernd Schulte, the President of AIXTRON, was confident with the products, saying “AIXTRON is the largest supplier of MOCVD systems for the production of ROY LEDs and laser diodes worldwide. The strategic partnership with Changelight, the largest customer for gallium arsenide-based MOCVD systems in China, helps us to consolidate and expand our leading market position.”

Chagelight announced in a shareholder meeting that the company has produced Mini LED products in small volumes. Jin Zhangyu, president of Xiamen Changelight indicated the company will deploy the new systems from AIXTRON to boost its production of ROY LED for fine pitch, mini LED and micro LED applications.
