No Dot About It: GE's New LED Lens Technology Inspires Retailers to Make the Switch

For retailers, accent, directional and flood lighting has largely been limited to halogen and CMH technologies to maintain color and light integrity on merchandise. But, a patent-pending GE LED lens has retailers viewing LEDs in a whole new light. GE's new Visual Comfort Lens™ diffuses ultra-efficient LED technology in a way that eliminates the light "dots" or spots often found when using LEDs in these applications.

GE's new Visual Comfort Lens diffuses ultra-efficient LED technology in a way that eliminates the light "dots" or spots often found when using LEDs in these applications.

With excellent light uniformity and a glare-free design, the Visual Comfort Lens also provides a Color Rendering Index (CRI) as high as 92 to bring out the bold and vivid colors of merchandise for a stronger customer experience.

"Retailers understand the importance of great color quality of their lighting to enhance the appearance of merchandise," says Mary Beth Gotti, manager of the GE Lighting Institute. "It's also important that the lighting doesn't compete with the merchandise for the customer's attention. GE's LED Retail PAR38 and PAR30 lights meet both of these performance objectives. They offer great color that especially enhances red tones that can sometimes be muted under other efficient light sources, and a smooth, lit appearance of the bulb itself that hides bright spots."

In addition to its excellent color rendering, LEDs outlast other lighting technologies with a 50,000-hour rated life.
