Signify has been a proactive industry player to reach sustainable goals. The company recently announced that 82.5% of its revenues came from energy efficient products, systems and services. It also achieved carbon neutrality in the market in Latin America, ASEAN, Far East, India, Indonesia and Pacific.
The Dutch company is taking a step forward by launching two street luminaires designed for a circular economy. The new generations of Luma and Iridium are fulfilling the requirements of a circular economy by being energy efficient in application, serviceable, connected, having a long/extendable lifetime and by being recyclable.
The two street luminaires have an efficacy of 160 lumen/Watt and 155 lumen/Watt, respectively, making both best-in-class within their range. The luminaires can also be upgraded when future efficacy advancements are available with their replaceable components. Thy are also system and sensor ready to be connected to smart city management systems for remote monitoring, allowing operators to optimize operations, minimize energy consumptions, schedule preventive maintenance and to keep an overview of all the connected lights.
The luminaires are driven with GearFlex - a gear tray which includes driver, surge protector and other components. This helps installers to replace and reprogram drivers within 30 seconds, without the need to touch any wiring and reducing the time they spend at a pole. This increases their safety and that of other road users.
For meeting the requirements of a circular economy, most materials and components of Luma and Iridium can be recovered for reuse or recycling, closing the materials loop according to circular economy principles.
The products will be available to the Europe market from March 2020.
