Zumtobel Highlights Office Lighting Applications at Frankfurt Lighting Show

The company showcased office lighting solutions including German iF Product Design Award winning Tunable White suspended luminaires. The tunable white luminaires are smart lighting that are capable of adjusting color temperature according to changes in room environment and utilization. The luminaires that are equipped with a Tridonic Tunable White LED module can be dimmed between 3,000 K to 6,000 K color temperatures. Zumtobel claims the glareless luminaires come with a patented mico-pyramidal optic (MPO+) that prevents reflections on displays.

Zumbotol’s office lighting designs corresponds to findings from an earlier company survey. Key findings in a joint survey conducted by Zumtobel Research and Fraunhofer IAO included workers preferring heterogenous color temperatures distributed between 3,000 and 6,000K, with most preferring color temperatures between 4,000 and 5,000K.

In addition up to 82.5 percent of the 2,643 surveyed as of November 2013 desired combined direct/indirect lighting solutions, and many requested for flexible lighting. In terms of luminous flux, 500 and 800 lux in the task area was the most preferred, with 60 percent respondents requesting more than 800 lux. Survey respondents were from Europe, Asia, Australia, and U.S.
