Mr. Kornrasit Pukchotanon, Governor, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), added that EGAT has implemented electricity management or ‘Demand Side Management’, in accordance with the Cabinet's resolution in 1993. Its purpose is for all sectors including residential, commercial and industrial to use electricity efficiently and meet the government's policy of eliminating the country's overall energy consumption.

From initial operation to date, it has resulted in energy savings of around 4,300 megawatts, reducing electricity consumption by up to 25,500 million units and mitigating global warming through reducing the atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions by 14.6 million tons. To encourage sustainable use of energy-saving equipment in Thailand and to create knowledge in energy conservation in line with the Ministry of Energy's 20-year energy conservation plan, EGAT is co-hosting Thailand Energy Efficiency Week 2017, which is ASEAN’s largest international exhibition on energy efficiency which will be held at Challenger 1, IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Center from 11 -13 May 2017.
