【NEPCON JAPAN】AI and 5G Applications Targeted by Global Technology Experts

NEPCON, Japan’s largest exhibition for electronics manufacturing and R&D technology consisting of seven shows, together with AUTOMOTIVE WORLD, the world’s biggest automotive technology exhibition, took place last week in Tokyo Big Sight.

The two events gathered more than 2100 exhibitors with 440 global participants, attracting more than 70000 visitors across the world to take a look of the leading technologies.

This year, NEPCON Japan focused on AI and the ready to go 5G connection. Companies that expert in 5G component manufacture and AI inspection equipment have joint the show. The event also invited industry professionals to share cases and current trends of the industry in the conferences. NEPCON Japan especially invited Japan’s two leading telecom operators, KDDI and NTT Docomo to talk about the ongoing development of 5G and their experiences collaborating with electronics manufacturers. Registered attendees was boosted with the speech.

Yuhi Maezono, Show Director of Reed Exhibitions Japan, unveiled that a special zone focus on 5G components and AI inspection will be added to the show next year in order to meet the fast growing demands and development in related areas.

Meanwhile, keynote speech of the year centered on the topic of Smart Home as it links to multiple kinds of end devices and applications as well as services with smart robots, covering a wide range of technologies. The topic is thus capable of connecting various industries and companies to draw attentions from a bigger crowd.

Looking ahead the future trends in the industry, Maezono noticed that many semiconductor companies are expanding their business from wafer production to also packaging, bringing different needs and further affecting exhibitors joining the show. He analyzed that companies involving semiconductor post engineering will increase in the future shows.

In addition, 6G is expected to come right after 5G, so NEPCON Japan will also include relevant topics. Quantum computer is another up-coming trend that worth notice, according to Maezono.

NEPCON Japan is also welcoming a growing number of startup companies coming from South East Asia countries and India as they are prospering with the supports of local government. The show is looking forward to become a bigger platform to provide communication and interaction opportunities for technology builders from Asia and the world.
