【InfoComm 2019】Innovation and Technology Raise Displays to a New Level

InfoComm 2019, held by AVIXA, kicked off on June 8th with the exhibition taking place during June 12-14th at Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA. LEDinside noticed that both display and projector manufacturers put their focal point on fine display technology and high valued market, aiming to push displays to another level with technology and innovation.

Micro LED, as the next generation display technology, again became the spotlight of the show. SONY showcased a 440-inch Crystal LED display with 8K4K resolution, matching its slogan “DON'T JUST DISPLAY. ASTONISH.” SONY Crystal LED displays have been installed in the U.S., Japan, The Netherlands, China and more.

LG has integrated companies under the group including chip maker LG Innotek and LG Display who specializes in backplane and driving technology to present the real Micro LED display. The chip size of LG’s Micro LED display is below 50µm*50µm. And it adopts active driven TFT backplane, which cost less compared to PCB backplane solution. The company plans to debut the product targeting large size display (more than 100-inch) in the coming two or three years for the commercial B2B market.

Since Leyard showcased a P0.7 fine pitch LED display in 2017, the company has officially shipped the products to clients in June 2019. Its P0.625 fine pitch LED display which adopts a four-in-one LED chip from Epistar subsidiary Yenrich will also be launched this year.

Optoma, a brand under Coretronic, presented its QUAD series LED display which targets the mainstream specification. The product adopts the 4K LEDView embedded solution from Calibre, another subsidiary of Coretronic, delivering excellent image processing function and enabling extremely thin LED screen which is easy to assemble. The product was honored with Best of Show Awards.

Daktronics, the leading LED display supplier for sport, commercial and transportation applications in North America, introduced P1.2 and P1.5 fine pitch displays featuring comprehensive services of the company.

Belgium-based BARCO and US-based Christie are projector manufacturers. They have expanded their product of P0.9/P1.2/P1.5 and P1.6 / P1.9 fine pitch LED display respectively for educational and business meeting applications.

Christie particularly emphasized its patented structure design which enables easy assembly and repair.

Featured with uniformed light distribution and softer lighting emission, four-in-one LED has been adopted by several Chinese firms including Unilumin, LianTronics, AOTO and Absen. The structure of four-in-one LED also solves the issue of collision and solder connection, leading to better reliability and security.

The major suppliers of four-in-one LEDs are Nationstar and Harvetek. Nationstar also demonstrated its P0.7 four-in-one LED at the show.
