Harvatek, LED packaging business from Taiwan, has announced to quit joint venture project with China-based TV brand TCL. Harvatek stated that both parties have had taken different attitudes towards some terms, and after careful consideration, Harvatek decided to transfer its 50% stake in the joint venture to TCL. Harvatek stated that it has invested around CNY15 million (US$2.44 million) in this project for two years.

Chinese major LCD-TV maker TCL Corp., will partner with Harvatek Corp. a Taiwanese LED maker 15% held by silicon foundry United Microelectronics Corp. Recently, Taiwan based packaging company, Harvatek is about to team up with TCL to built LED packaging plant in Huizhou, China. Both of the two companies will own 50% share in the new plant individually.
The new facility will go into production at the end of March, 2012 and its goal is to reach 2 billion capacity after one year. Harvatek disclosed that it expected for further vertical integration by cooperating with LED chip maker.

As the ensuing demands for LED backlights, the world's first-tier manufacturers of brand computers have scheduled to tap into tablet PCs in the first quarter 2011, therefore Taiwan's industry executives predict it will create business for Taiwan's LED makers when the market for TV backlights started losing growth steam in the third quarter.
According to Taiwan's industry executives, tablet PC backlights are particularly suitable for manufacturers specializing in small and medium backlights for uses in mobile phones and digital photo frames.

Bright LED's revenues for 3Q10 slipped by 6% to NT$1.41 billion, but thanks to improved product mix, gross margin up to 16.56% from 15.59% in 2Q. Operation gross profit for 3Q was NT$190 million with an operating margin of 13.52%. Pure income for 3Q was NT$143 million with an EPS of NT$0.73.
In the first three quarters of 2010, the company’s revenues totaled NT$3.95 billion, and net profit reached NT$344 million with an EPS of NT$1.75.
