Philips EnduraLED / AmbientLED 12.5 watt is announced to receive ENERGY STAR certification.   The Philips AmbientLED lasts 25 times longer and uses 80 percent less energy than the 60-watt incandescent bulb it is designed to replace. It’s reported that Philips Lighting has brightened the Cebu Capitol building with LED bulbs. According to Provincial Engineer Eulogio Pelayre, launched last month, the lighted Capitol building will be maintained by the company free of charge. The LED bulbs allow the Capitol to save 70 percent in power bills. No maintenance or replacement of bulbs is needed for the next 15 years at least.

America Macy's stores intends to replace over 117,000 43-watt halogen-based bulbs used for accent lighting in 86 department stores with 17-watt custom-designed Philips EnduraLED PAR38 SP15 lamps, which makes it the first department store to use LEDs on a wide scale.

According to a recent statement from Philips’ subsidiary Assembleon, Philips has agree to sell 80 percent of Assembleon to independent private equity firm H2 Equity Partners.
