India’s Ujala scheme is to start the distribution of new 9WLED bulbs at INR 75 (US $1.1) to residents and commercial consumers in Delhi, reported Times of India.

Indian state Jharkhand’s discom utility Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) in partnership with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has on average distributed 30,000 LED bulbs daily over the last four months, reported The Times of India.

Indian states Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir have become the latest to implement LED lighting replacement projects under the country’s Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP), according to Indian media reports.

Indian consumers are embracing the LED replacement wave, and have swapped more than 10 million traditional and CFL bulbs with LEDs within the last month, but some states have been delaying LED streetlight upgrades ahead of the upcoming elections, reported Indian media.

India’s LED bulb retrofit incentives under the DELP program implemented by Energy of Efficiency Services (EESL), a joint venture of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) of the Power Minister have slashed LED bulb prices significantly, reported theEconomic Times.
