Walsin Lihwa Starts Mass Production in Shanxi LED Venture

Sources inform that recently, Walsin Lihwa Corp. has kick off volume production at an LED-epitaxy venture in Shanxi Province, mainland China. According to the company,the venture is designed to have annual output of 150,000 4-inch epitaxy wafers with 20 MOCVD chambers, estimated to bring in Walsin Lihwa around NT$1.3-1.5 billion (US$43-50 million at US$1:NT$30) in revenue a year.   Walsin Lihwa has spent around US$127 million on the investment of the venture.
