The LED industry has experienced unusually good performance during traditional slack season, according to a report by United Evening News. Backlight module manufacturers Unity Opto, Lextar, and Tekcore are optimistic as market demands for backlight rise. Benefiting from high resolution TV trend, TV backlight's high brightness demands have become even more evident, said industry insiders. Prices have stabilized following increase in luminosity despite fewer LED’s used and market polarization has become more evident as large companies expand.

Recently, LED chipmaker Tekcore has signed a NT$3.8 billion (US$124.53 million) syndicated loan with a banking consortium on December 2, in order to build a new plant and to purchase equipment.
Tekcore noted, benefit from shipments of high-margin blue LED chips, the company 2010 revenues would go up largely. In the first three quarters of 2010, its profits increased 100% compared to the same time in 2009.

LCD chipmaker Formosa Epitaxy reported October 2010 revenues of NT$400.72 million (US$13.31 million), down 0.04% sequentially but up 58.86% on year.
In November, the company pointed out that demand for TV backlighting was picking up on which revenues depended, but the growth was not as significant as in 2009, and December revenues were expected to drop as clients went through inventory stock checks.

Taiwan’s LED chipmaker Tekcore Co. Ltd. will persistently expand production capacity to cope with flooding orders, which have inundated the company’s production lines。
According to company president Jonathan Lu, Tekcore will increase the number of metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) machines to 46 by the end of this year from 38 systems recorded in the second quarter.
