Philips Lighting, a global leader in lighting, announced the expansion of horticultural LED lighting installations at the two leading companies in cut rose cultivation, Porta Nova in the Netherlands and Scheers Rose Nursery in Belgium. Shortly after piloting hybrid LED and high-pressure sodium (HPS) grow light installations, both growers have decided to expand their LED investment following yields increasing by up to 50%.

Dutch designer David Graas has created 3D-printed LED light bulbs that have cityscapes rising from them in a series called Huddle.             These bulbs are Graas' homage to the modern city. "The mega city, despite its many problems, seems to be our destined habitat now that resources are becoming scarce. It also hold the key to a sustainable future with its concentration of information, technology and talent." he says. They also look really cool. The bulb itself is actually a "bulbshade"...

These wine-glass-shaped stuffs designed by Guido Ooms can light too, with the twenty high intensity LEDs that should last a good 10 years. The 7.5″×2.7″size is exactly that of a standard wine glass, which is about 3″ longer than a normal bulb. For as much as $120, the sophisticated drunk can take this novelty light bulb home and add a touch of class to their home bar.
