Pixelligent Technologies, inventing PixClear® high-index nanocomposites for the OLED Display, HD Display, and Solid State Lighting markets, announced the release of a joint whitepaper with Fraunhofer ISC and Osram Semiconductor. The white paper demonstrates the dramatic efficiency impacts achieved by combining Pixelligent’s PixClear® high-index inks with Fraunhofer’s ORMOCER® inorganic-organic hybrid polymer matrix that are suitable for numerous optoelectronic applications.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a solid-state lighting (SSL) R&D funding opportunity on October 14, 2014. Under this funding opportunity (DE-FOA-0001171, “Solid-State Lighting Advanced Technology R&D – 2015”), a total of up to $10 million in funding is directed toward all three existing DOE SSL R&D program areas:

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) has released a position paper that identifies the information and test data needed to evaluate solid state lighting (SSL) products. CEE members, representing the energy efficiency program administrators of the United States and Canada, plan to use this product information to evaluate the efficiency and quality of SSL products they will consider promoting to the commercial and residential markets.  

The establishment of an LED industrial park in Changzhou, China consists of upstream components (epi wafer, chip), midstream (packaging), downstream LED lighting fixtures, LCD display LED backlight applications, solar-powered LED lighting, and high-power LEDs. The industrial park is an assembly of over 40 LED application makers. Changzhou’s Zouqu Lamp City, the largest market in China, is expected to boost the momentum of Changzhou’s solid state lighting development. The park’s development schedule is drafted in three stages:
