LED Roadway Lighting Ltd. (LRL), a Halifax-based manufacturer dedicated in LED-based street and area lighting products, announced a contract with Nova Scotia Power, an Emera Company, to supply up to 85,000 Satellite™ series fixtures for deployment across the province. The fixtures will be installed starting in Q4 2012. The new light fixtures will replace existing 70 – 400 watt high-pressure sodium fixtures. Sooner or later, Nova Scotia will become the first jurisdiction in North America to exclusively use LED roadway lighting. Energy Minister Charlie Parker finalized amendments to the Energy-Efficient Appliances Regulations, Sept. 12, that require all road and highway lighting in Nova Scotia must be converted to LED. The regulations require Nova Scotia Power to complete its conversion by Dec. 31, 2019. Municipalities will have until Dec. 31, 2022, and now have one year to outline the conversion. Halifax based LED Roadway Lighting Ltd., a private company , has acquired the innovative intellectual property of Streetlight Intelligence Inc. of Victoria, B.C.
