The Willis Independent School District in Texas, USA is considering posting LED signs on every campus in the district.
The idea was brought to the school board this week by Todd Cabra, a factory representative from Affordable Signs and LEDs, and also a parent of two WISD students, after he noticed A.R. Turner Elementary, the school of his youngest daughter, did not have an LED sign like Brabham Middle School or Meador Elementary School.
The LED signs scrolls messages such as early dismissal or yearbooks for sale to inform the community and parents. "That's the kind of things parents call the front office asking a million questions about,” Cabra said. “It would provide quality to the schools when it comes to signage.”
The district hasn’t made any decisions about Cabra’s offer, but board members seemed interested in the possibility of LED signs on all campuses.
Cabra offered to ship and install a one foot by eight foot double-sided sign for each campus for $9,500. “I’ve really reduced my pricing considerably, because I wanted to make it affordable to every school,” said Cabra.
Cabra will complete installation of a new Turner sign this week for $8,000.
