Panasonic Corporation recently announced to launch a 40W equivalent LED lamp Clear Type in the European market from July 2012, marking the beginning of its full-scale entry into the European consumer LED lamp market.
The company will expand its LED lighting business in Europe with both lamp and device businesses. It plans to significantly expand the lineup of LED lamps for consumers and businesses, as well as LED lighting devices for lighting equipment manufacturers, within the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2013 (FY2013).
As for LED lighting devices, the company will launch this month in Europe an easy-to-handle center-mount LED lighting module that has been well received in the Japanese lighting market for its beautiful light and shadows. Including other LED lighting devices, Panasonic will double the range of European offerings in FY2013. Panasonic will strengthen its sales to lighting equipment manufacturers in Europe through Vossloh-Schwabe Deutschland GmbH and will offer OLED lighting devices to lighting equipment manufactures in Europe.
Through its full-scale entry into the European market, the company aims to increase sales in the LED lighting business in the region to 15 billion yen in FY2016, almost five times the sales in FY2011. In the global total LED business, including the lighting equipment business, Panasonic targets sales of 100 billion yen in FY2013 and at least 200 billion yen in FY2016 with an aim to secure a 10% share in the global market.
