GE Lighting Launches Okapi LED Luminaire

The Okapi LED luminaire is the latest addition to GE Lighting's exterior range. This energy efficient luminaire is available in three mounting options, to offer a flexible LED outdoor lighting solution.

The combination between the aesthetic and functionality makes this luminaire the perfect solution for the replacement of conventional luminaires with traditional light sources.

The advanced LED optical system used in the Okapi LED offers improved horizontal and vertical uniformity reduced glare and improved lighting controls. Five different reflectors are available for optimized photometric distribution, ensuring light is only delivered where it is needed – reducing light nuisance.

Available in 20W, 30W and 44W, the Okapi LED is designed to meet a life expectancy of 50,000 hours. This reliable system offers more than 12 years of service life, based on 4000hrs of operation per year, to reduce maintenance frequency and expense.

The Okapi LED luminaire can be mounted in three ways – the side and post top mounting options are ideal for street lighting whilst the decorative mounting option works well in pedestrian areas, walkways, parks and gardens where there is a need to deliver a more aesthetically appealing LED outdoor lighting solution.

Designed to withstand the elements, Okapi LED's upper and lower housing and arm are manufactured using die cast aluminium with a polyester powder paint finish, making it incredibly robust. From a safety perspective, Okapi LED is also fitted with a dimmable driver into the lower housing – this is isolated from the environment with a double pole IP66 switch.

Diederik de Stoppelaar, global general manager for GE Lighting's vertical outdoor market said: "LED outdoor lighting systems from GE are designed as a long term commitment to efficiency and low maintenance,” said Diederik de Stoppelaar, Global General Manager for Vertical Outdoor Market at GE Lighting. “The Okapi LED offers real flexibility, in terms of both adaptable design and a range of reflectors – bringing even greater choice to street lighting and outdoor projects."
