Taiwan LED packaging manufacturer Unity Opto Technology consolidated revenue in September was seven percent lower than August to NT$512 million. The company’s 3Q revenue was NT$1.679 million, a 16.45 percent dip from 2Q revenue of NT$2.01 million. Unity Opto says that 3Q results were affected mainly by Chinese TV client’s inventory adjustments, and expects4Q revenue to rebound. Benefiting from the new household electricity subsidy and by European and U.S. holiday sales gradual revenue growth is anticipated for 4Q.
Unity Opto noted shipment performance for Sept. and 3Q was affected by Chinese TV clients’ inventory adjustments, which lead to an entire drop in the TV backlight demand. The quantity of touch screen backlight and lighting product shipment has shown slight growth, as revenues for 2Q13 are at an all time low, slow monthly growth is expected for 4Q.
Good performance is anticipated for 4Q. With Chinese TV clients obtaining new household energy subsidy, sales peak season during European and U.S. yearend holidays, and upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, present opportunities to urge clients to restock inventory in 4Q. This is expected to cause TV backlight demands to rebound once again.
In addition, towards the end of the year, the company has seen gradual growth in orders over the months due to continual release of new touch screen notebooks and tablet products, said Unity Opto. In addition, impact from European and U.S. subsidy for energy saving products and ban on incandescent light bulbs has lead to QoQ increase in lighting client order volume. The company’s 4Q lighting performance is projected to continue growth and will account for over 25 percent of the entire revenue.
