B/E Aerospace new Emteq unit Diehl Aerospace and other aircraft cabin lighting might be getting LED lighting upgrades from Panasonic in the near future, according to a report by Runway Girl Network.
Panasonic intends to venture into the airplane cabin lighting, the report cited Neil James, executive director of corporate sales and product management, Panasonic Aviation.
The company has already showcased LED lighting solutions at the Aircraft Interiors Expo, said James. “We’re already in the middle of a couple huge Request for Proposals (RFPs) with OEMs, and talking to airlines about it.” The company has already developed an LED lighting system for airplane cabins that enables users to control lighting and change mood lighting during different phases of flight.
What differentiates Panasonic from competitors in cabin lighting is that “We’re using our own technology,” said James. “Other suppliers are integrating another company’s technology.” The company is said to be working with OEMs on a daily basis, and has signed non-disclosure agreements with them to advance its lighting scheme.
