Taiwanese LED lead frame manufacturer I-Chuin’s revenue dropped in February this year, due to fewer work days during the Chinese holiday season and labor shortages after Chinese Lunar New Year. Consolidated revenue for February reached NT $ 419 million (US $13.8 million), MoM drop of 19.79 percent and YoY decline of 2.48 percent.
Although, February revenue dropped 19.79 percent from January, the company is optimistic that revenues in March will rebound as the number of work days and labor force levels returns to normal.
Order performance for LED lead frames directly reflected slack season performance, said I-Chuin. Demands slowed down before Chinese Lunar New Year but have shown an incremental increase after the holidays. Direct-type LED TV backlight orders in comparison have boomed. Driven by Chinese Labor Day (May 1, 2014) holiday stock-ups, order demands after Chinese Lunar New Year grew more rapidly than LED lead frames. It is estimated that order performance for direct-type LED backlight and LED lead frames will show even greater growth during peak season in 2Q.
