DEKRA Acquires Taiwanese Test Institute QuieTek

DEKRA is strategically expanding its product testing business in Asia. The expert organisation has signed an agreement for acquisition of the QuieTek Corporation in Taipei, Taiwan. This purchase compliments DEKRA’s service portfolio and further strengthens DEKRA’s position in testing of electrical and electronic products and components.

The QuieTek Corporation was previously a subsidiary of the electronics group QuieTek Group Corporation, and provides testing services for prestigious manufacturers of notebooks, tablets, wireless modules, LED TV sets, cameras, projectors, mobile phones and automotive electronics. The company has over 250 employees and runs three laboratories in Taiwan as well as one in Suzhou near Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China.

“This acquisition is an important milestone in our strategy of establishing DEKRA as leading global provider of testing services for electrical and electronic industry”, says Stefan Kölbl, Chairman of the Management Boards of DEKRA e.V. and DEKRA SE. “One of the main aims of DEKRA in Asia is to expand business with product testing and certifications and diversify in order to make an even greater contribution to product safety”.

“With QuieTek Corporation, we are gaining substantial expertise and tapping into a new market with vast growth potential for our Product Testing and Certification division”, says Ivo Rauh, member of the Management Board of DEKRA SE and Head of the DEKRA Industrial business unit. “By having a geographical presence in Taiwan with our own laboratories, we are establishing a powerful unit in the global centre of manufacturing and development of consumer electronics”.

QuieTek Corporation specialises in the testing of radio and wireless technologies as well as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In addition, the company develops and constructs testing chambers for EMC measurement.
