Northern UK County Invests US $36M in LED Streetlight Upgrade

Northumberland, a northern county in UK has announced plans of investing £25 million (US $36 million) in a LED streetlight upgrade project, reported ChronicleLive.

The county will be replacing a total of 29,000 lamps and aims to complete retrofitting 17,000 lamposts with LED lights by 2018.

The new lights are estimated to save the county £300,000 a year on energy costs. Northumberland has started works on the LED upgrade.
