Lunera Files LED Lamp Patent Infringement Suit Against Seven U.S. Manufacturers

Lunera® Lighting announced that the company has filed suit in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) against EiKO Global, Keystone Technologies, Maxlite, Premium Quality Lighting, Revolution Lighting Technologies, SATCO Products and Topaz Lighting Corporation who are currently selling "knock off" versions of Lunera's Helen Lamp; the first plug-and-play LED replacement lamp for a 4-pin Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL), an innovative product designed and invented by Lunera.

Lunera is seeking an injunction barring the sale of the "knock off" product in the U.S. "It has come to our attention that multiple companies have blatantly copied our Helen Lamp product," said Doug Schendt, Lunera CEO. "Lunera pioneered the category of ballast driven CFL retrofit lamps; we will vigorously defend our intellectual property against infringement," Schendt added.

In addition, Lunera has noted that several of the companies currently marketing the "knock off" product in the U.S. are claiming that their products are UL Listed. On Lunera's request, UL has opened an investigation into potential misrepresentation of the "knock off" lamps' safety certification.

The Helen Lamp was introduced in 2013, it has been recognized by the press and commercial lighting trade as a significant market differentiator to accelerate greater adoption of LED lighting. Lunera's actions will protect potential customers from accidentally purchasing "knock off" copies of the Helen Lamp that have not undergone the same stringent internal quality control processes its lamps undergoes.
