LG Display Injects $123 M in OLED Panels for Lighting

LG Display will be investing another KRW 140 billion (US $123 million) into mass producing OLED panels for lighting during first half of 2017, reported Nikkei Asian Review.

The new OLED display factory will be constructed in the industrial city of Gumi, will have a production capacity of 15,000 1-meter-by-1.2 meter substrates for OLED light panels per month.

The Korean manufacturer aims to sell the OLED light panels within its group and also to other clients to create a market for OLED lights.

LG Display is already a leading manufacturer in OLED displays for TV and smartphones, and by entering OLED lighting business, the company is preparing its OLED sector to match its LCD business.
