• Certain luminaires developed specifically for the main Hahnenkamm Races events venue.
• Lighting solution realised using products from the Zumtobel and Thorn brands.

For one weekend a year, Kitzbühel becomes the focal point of the winter sports world – the venue for the undisputed highlight of the Alpine World Cup season. Every January thousands of sports fans make their way to probably the most famous ski slope in Austria – the Streif – in the north-east corner of Tyrol. This year’s event takes place from 20th to 22nd January 2017, when visitors can look forward to thrilling races on the Hahnenkamm slopes and hours of entertainment near the finishing line at the KitzRaceClub. The Zumtobel Group is the official lighting partner for the third time in 2017 and has now combined a series of innovative solutions to perfectly showcase the KitzRaceClub.

Some of the lighting solutions have been developed exclusively for the KitzRaceClub, including a series of twelve chandeliers in the heart of the large festival hall. Each comprising of seven glass tubes, these chandeliers make a striking impression in the heart of the central events venue. The customised luminaires can even be flexibly integrated into the stage lighting to produce dramatic effects for events like the traditional gala evening. The lighting in the VIP area is also realised using a special solution. This luminaire is a combination of two individual products, with a round opal ONDARIA surface luminaire surrounded by SUPERSYSTEM spotlights. The matching cowhide-covered housing and the attractive blend of two-dimensional light and spot lighting help further accentuate the special ambience.

The SCONFINE pendant luminaire from Zumtobel can be found in the reception area of the KitzRaceClub. Designed by the renowned South Tyrolean architect Matteo Thun, these modular optical units boast impressive spot and flood light distributions. LINARIA LED battens from Zumtobel are installed as side-mounted vertical mirror luminaires in the exclusive spa and beauty suite.

A total of 16 KitzRace outdoor columns illuminate the entrance to the KitzRaceClub. Specially manufactured for the Hahnenkamm Races, these luminaire masts can be configured to produce effects like a curtain of light for the famous gala evening. RGB versions of the CONTRAST 2 LED floodlights, which are attached to the base of vertical supporting beams from the building, provide additional optical accents for the external facade.

Karl-Heinz Rüf, “Hahnenkamm Races” Project Manager from the Zumtobel Group, said: “We will once again in 2017 make a key contribution to the Hahnenkamm Races with lighting solutions for the KitzRaceClub. We are delighted to be able to continue our long-term partnership with the Hahnenkamm Races. The World Cup in Kitzbühel is an internationally renowned winter sporting event and an important presentation platform for us. Illuminating the main events venue has given us the opportunity to publicly demonstrate just what can be achieved with indoor and outdoor lighting. By utilising products from Zumtobel and Thorn, we have also shown how two strong brands of the Zumtobel Group perfectly complement each other. As a result, in 2017 we have once more presented ourselves as an effective full-service provider and a reliable long-term partner of the Hahnenkamm Races.”
