Bowery Farming, an indoor autonomous farming startup from New York, has raised US$ 90 million in Series B funding from investors including GV (formerly Google Ventures). and CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi.
The company began operating in February 2017 and has opened two vertical farming facilities near New York since then. Bowery Farming applies technologies including robotics, machine learning and predictive analytics to autonomously operate the growing conditions for the crops. Vegetables are grown with controlled environment with optimized LED lighting spectrum and efficient amount of water which uses 95 percent less water compared to conventional agriculture.

Bowery Farming builds indoor vertical farms near cities to produce food for continue growing population and reduce the carbon footprint of food. With the funding, the company plans to establish more growing facilities by the end of 2019. The exact number and location of the new farms was not disclosed. Bowery will also enlarge its organization and expand the variety of products. The distribution partners of Bowery include Whole Foods, Sweetgreen, and restaurants in New York.
