PepsiCo Partners Local Organizations to Install Solar Lights across Pakistan
In its second year, CSR volunteers from PepsiCo Pakistan launched the 2016 Lighting up Lives campaign in the holy month of Ramazan to strive towards improving communities. PepsiCo Partners with local organizations to install solar lights across Pakistan.
The ‘Lighting up Lives” project was rolled out in 2014, and is one of PepsiCo Pakistan’s flagship CSR program that provides communities in need with solar lights inside Pepsi bottles. This initiative has helped install hundreds of lights in refugee camps and other areas in need, and is estimated to have helped thousands of lives. PepsiCo aims to increase the project’s reach and light up hundreds of thousands of Pakistani lives in the coming years.
The volunteering activity was arranged in collaboration with Buksh Foundation and Roshni Welfare Association. Volunteers from PepsiCo have installed hundreds of lights at the Roshni village for special persons.
The lighting solution is a bottle equipped with a LED light, battery and a solar panel, and the lights automatically turn on when the sun sets.
