Leyard’s video walls pass Croatian broadcaster’s screen test

News Source:

NOVA TV’s studio features several video walls, including two 14m by 7m curved walls with a 1.5mm pixel pitch that frame the news desk and display infographics and background scenery.

The move to new premises in the heart of Zagreb in Croatia presented NOVA TV with the opportunity to create a modern TV studio equipped with the latest video wall solutions.

So the broadcaster approached systems integrator, Omnivor, which it had previously worked with on software solutions for presenting election polls and social media analysis, and Ominvor’s partner company Kapetanović Sistemi, which is also involved in many aspects of Nova TV’s workflow.

“It was clear from the start that LED was the ideal display technology,” says Omnivor's chief technology officer, Velibor Marhofer. “It hit NOVA TV’s brief for modern and sophisticated technology, while offering a better pixel pitch, the opportunity to create curved screens and lower electricity consumption.

“After considering a range of LED brands, we selected Leyard because of the high-end profile of the brand and the high quality of its TVF series, which comes with a lifetime warranty and is backed by the Leyard team’s support and professional approach.”

The project included multiple LED video walls, three of which were curved. Two 14m by 7m curved walls frame the central news anchor desk, displaying infographics and background scenery for news, interviews and weather forecasts in high resolution, thanks to the TVF's 1.5mm pixel pitch.

Content is also displayed on two other video walls measuring 23m by 3m and 18m by 3m, which comprise 7.8mm pixel pitch flat LEDs from Leyard’s high-brightness Luminate Pro Series.

Low-resolution LED measuring 7m by 7m serves as a backdrop to the co-working zone and is visible behind the main presentation space.

NOVA TV's chief technology officer, Srecko Husnjak, says Leyard was a logical choice that perfectly fulfilled the brief.

“The curved LED video walls make an impressive background to our new scenography with modern graphics solutions, presentations and virtual coverages,” he says.

“They have helped increase our programme share and create the visual identity of NOVA TV news.”
