LG Releases New W86 Series LED Screens

LG raises the bar for PC monitor standards with the launch of its range of slim and stylish LED (Light Emitting Diode) screens, the W86 series. Combining LED technology with high-end design, the W86 series is ideal for the style conscious who are looking for a design-led product to compliment their entertainment and work set-up. Its slim screen - measuring just 20.5mm - sits above a ruby red base, a design feature found on LG’s high-end TVs. This is complimented by a piano black casing, an LED power button and touch sensitive controls that glow red when movement is detected.

Using LED technology alters the method of lighting up the screen, allowing the W86 series to produce a much more vibrant image than a standard monitor using CCFL. LED technology not only improves the picture quality, but the lamps used do not contain mercury or lead, thus reducing the product’s power consumption by up to 40%, compared to a standard PC monitor.

The W86 series boasts an ‘Auto Bright’ feature which automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness based on the light in the room and the content being viewed. To avoid eyestrain, the monitor also includes a timer that reminds users to take a break from their work at predetermined intervals.

With a Dynamic Fine Contrast ratio (DFC) of 2,000,000:1 and full-HD resolution, the W86 series produces clear, fine details whether it is being used for viewing films, games or photos. The monitors boast a 2ms response time, a 16:9 aspect ratio and two HDMI ports for compatibility with games consoles and Blu-ray devices.

In addition to the LED-backlit models, the W86 will be available with traditional CCFL backlighting. This offers the same premium style, high-end picture quality and full set of features as the LED models, but at a more affordable price.
