Hi Seoul Winter Festival 2008 was hold at Cheonggye Square in this Tuesday evening. Numerous lights along Seoul’s Cheonggye Stream brighten the dark winter sky.
This year the event under the theme “White Winter, Pure Seoul”, the winter festival is dedicated to “light” aiming to bring hope and joy via beautiful lighting and bright decorations to those who are suffering from the worldwide economic depression. The event starts from Cheonggye Square, heads along the stream through Seoul Square, Dongnimmun, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and the Seoul Metropolitan Council. A great number of light decorations illuminate the area and the brightly lit tree-lined streets that continue to Gwanghwamun and Sungnyemun heighten the festivity.
The festival committee has prepared special areas such as the “Silver Screen”, “Pure White Lake’’ and “Digial Stream”.
The “Silver Screen” installed at Cheonggye Square, is a white screen made with white LED. It projects different images and messages with accompanying changes of music and lights. The venue also offers special events like “Kiss Time” for lovers and a New Year Countdown.
“Pure White Lake” is located between the Mojeon and Gwangtong Bridges, offering LED lighting in the shape of snowflakes and snowballs. The lights, varying in size, makes one feel as if he or she is in the middle of a snow village surrounded by snowflakes. Many visitors come to take pictures while others pray.
Meanwhile, “Cheonggye Digital Stream” is where visitors can find dynamic laser shows and a “Wishing Tree” where people can hang wishes written on small notes.
