LiDAR startup AEye announced that it has extended strategic partnership with automotive lighting supplier HELLA and started collaboration with LG Electronics in developing and manufacturing sensing and perception solutions for autonomous driving.
AEye’s iDAR artificial perception system leads the industry in range and scan rate performance for automotive-grade LiDAR. iDAR is a new form of intelligent data collection that fuses 1550 nanometer (nm), solid-state agile LiDAR with a low-light HD camera and embedded AI to intelligently capture data at the sensor level. Hella and LG have both invested in AEye in its series B financing closed in December 2018.

With the partnerships with HELLA and LG, AEye aims to leverage the expertise and capabilities of each other to advance the development of autonomous driving technologies. HELLA will bring in its high competence in the field of embedded software and image processing as well as its automotive experience and industrialization capabilities along the entire supply chain to leverage and extend this platform. This joint development effort will bring best-in-class Level 3 ADAS solutions to global automotive OEMs.
The LG partnership is part of AEye’s “design for manufacturability” strategy, wherein it works with trusted Tier 1 suppliers to build and manufacture automotive grade systems to OEM specifications. By combining AEye’s core technology with LG’s expertise in manufacturing automotive components, the companies will help to accelerate OEMs’ rollout of ADAS offerings, ensuring quality at scale.
Currently at CES 2019, AEye is exhibiting the first results of the cooperation with HELLA as well as its innovative technologies.
