ANSI Reaffirms ANSI C78.42 High-Pressure Sodium Lamps Standard

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C78 reaffirmed ANSI C78.42 High-Pressure Sodium Lamps. This standard sets forth the physical and electrical requirements for HPS lamps, to ensure performance and interchangeability. The data given also provides the basis for the electrical requirements for ballasts and ignitors, as well as the lamp-related requirements for luminaires.

ANSI C78.42-2009 (R2016) is available in hard copy or electronic download for $480 on the NEMA website.

NEMA’s Lighting Systems Division, as secretariat of ANSI’s ASC C78 for Electric Lamps, is looking for industry experts in the User and General Interest categories to participate in standards development activities. Contact NEMA at nemalighting@nema.org if you are interested. Please indicate your interest category and your area of expertise.
