Bridgelux has cooperated with a Chevron unit to finance the installation of LED lighting by city governments.
According to the program, Chevron Energy Solutions will upgrade street lights with Bridgelux’s LED lighting technology at no upfront cost to the cities. The company has launched pilot programs in Livermore – where Bridgelux happens to be headquartered – and several other California cities, including Dublin, Benicia and Solana Beach.
Brad Bullington, VP for corporate and market development at Bridgelux, says several of the company’s pilot customers are likely to go to full build outs in the next month or so. He sees a huge potential market here, noting that there are 35 million street lights in the U.S., 70% of which use a standard form factor “cobra head” design from General Electric that could use the company’s LED modules.
