Chinese LED Displays Go Live at Brazil World Cup 2014

The Brazil World Cup 2014, which officially kicked off on June 13, 2014 at São Paulo is entering climax. This year’s game has taken an interesting turn, since the last World Cup champion Spain was knocked out of the game. Sixty four years have elapsed since soccer nation Brazil hosted the global sports event. Although, the Chinese soccer team was disqualified from the World Cup this year, Chinese-made LED displays have successfully earned “front row seats” to the world’s top sports event.

Chinese LED display manufacturers that are mostly involved in Brazil World Cup sales are Aoto Electronics, Shenzhen Chip Optech and Hunan Xinyasheng Technology and Development.

Aoto Electronics announced as early as Jan. 16, 2014 that it had signed a US$ 7 million sales agreement with German company LANG AG, a specialist in visual presentation rental and sales, to supply color LED displays. The displays shipped will be used for the FIFA Brazil World Cup, which runs from June 12 to July 13, 2014.

Just one day later, Aota Electronics signed another sales agreement worth US $2.53 million with Dutch LED display rental company Faber Audiovisuals to supply full color LED displays for 2014 Brazil World Cup Fan Parks. The two agreements signed by Aota Electronics amounted to US $9.53 million.

Some Chinese investors projected ahead of the World Cup that “Aota Electronics stocks will soar during Brazil World Cup,” but in reality company stocks have slightly declined. Aota Electronics stocks dipped 0.59 percent on June 12 from RMB 25.65 (US $4.21) to RMB 25.46. The Chinese stock market always suffered from the “World Cup Curse,” where the stock market tends to drop. Usually on the day of a popular sports event, the stocks trade volume declines, and stock prices tend to fall about 60 percent, but a day after the sports event the stock trade and prices will rebound, said QF Securities Analyst Qinsheng Shi.

In addition, Shenzhen Chip Optech four full color LED displays were successfully showcased at Brazil capital’s Mane Garrincha National Stadium. Two full color LED displays were 7.04 meters by 3.84 meters P10 LEDs, while the other two were P20 LED displays 12.8 meters by 7.04 meters.

For the World Cup finale, Hunan Xinyasheng Technology and Development’s LED displays will be broadcasting the competition at Rio de Janeiro’s Estádio do Maracanã . According to FIFA’s schedule, the World Cup will take place at Beijing time July 14, 2014.
