The U.S. city of Detroit has completed retrofitting 14,000 LED streetlights in three zip codes, according to a report by MLive.
The city was named one of five cities across U.S. that received White House funding for streetlight upgrades under High Performance Outdoor Lighting Accelerator project.
The city has completed installation of new streetlights in three zip codes, and met a July 31 deadline for two pilot project areas.
The city’s Public Light Authority said it is charged with installing a total of 65,000 new lights over a period of two years.
