Epistar Secures HV LED Orders from Large European Manufacturers

LED chip manufacturer Epistar has received orders from large European manufacturers including Philips after the launch of their new HV LED products in Germany earlier this year, according to Economic Daily News. The company has had an increase in orders due to the efficiency and cost advantage of the HV LED products. Production capacity operations this quarter have already reached maximum.

Epistar’s highly competitive HV LED enables cold white LEDs to reach 162lm/W. Large international companies including Philips, Osram, and Cree have already signed cooperative nondisclosure agreements with the company. Related products will begin shipment this quarter.

Epistar's HV LED client’s introduction of HV chip products has been better than expected with revenue increasing from around NT $10 million (US $332,234) last year to NT $100 million this  year.

Morgan Stanley is optimistic about Epistar’s performance this quarter. The financial services company believes that the company’s operating profit margin will continue to show positive turnaround as revenues grow and shipments of red LED, HV LED, and flip chips increase. It is estimated that operating profit margin will soar from 5.11 percent last quarter to 13.3 percent this quarter.
