Highlights of the week:

  • Philips is working on a Philips Hue App for the Apple Watch, which allows the smart watch to also work as a controller.
  • According to Yole research, the fate of the sapphire industry will depend on Apple smart watch developments.
  • Epistar Chairman B.J. Lee projects LED backlight demands will rebound in April.
  • Another case of bad LED streetlight design is found in New York, as local residents complain of strong glare issues.
  • Philips Lumileds launches its new LED package for single-source beam control in directional lamps.
  • TILS 2015 has featured a new OLED and a LED lighting design pavilion this year, but we didn’t see many OLED manufacturers at the show ground. Despite of this, OLED technology was high on ITRI’s forum agenda this year, taking up about 50% of forum sessions.

LEDinside team was at TILS 2015 for most of this week, so apologies for the low article volume. There will be more articles coming up next week about some of the trending technologies and products at the show, so please stay tuned for more.
