Some residents in Hounslow Council in London, UK, have complained ultra-bright LED streetlights have disrupted their evening and sleep so bad that old fashioned World War II blitz-style blackout curtains were used to keep the lights out, according to a Daily Mail report.
The multi-million pound LED streetlight replacement project to improve road visibility might have saved tax payers money and cut energy consumption, but a resident responded after the installation the bright lights made him feel as if he was “living on a football pitch.”
Another woman who resorted to taping up her Venetian window with duct tape told BBC the dazzling streetlights were like “having a spotlight in your face.”
Fortunately, the lights are dimmable and the council is seeking out possible dimming solutions to fix the bright lights.
