Nan Ya Photonics Inc., a joint venture by Taiwan’s Epistar and Nan Ya Plastics Corp., recently has completed its first automatic production line and targeted to scramble for orders from international brands such as GE and Philips.
Nan Ya Photonics’s chairman Wilfred Wang noted at a press conference held earlier that the addition of the advanced production line will enable the company to achieve maximum monthly output of 500,000 LED bulbs for sale at home and overseas.
The president B.J. Wu confirmed that his company is vying for orders from GE, Philips and other globally known brands for the time being, and aims to take advantage of this possible chance to explore overseas markets. In the short term, both contract manufacturing and branding will be the company’s core business.
In this business tie-up, Epistar severs as an upstream supplier of epitaxial wafers and LED chips for Nan Ya Photonics engaged in manufacturing of LED bulbs, with Nan Ya Plastics being a sales arm.
Presently, Wu said, Nan Ya Photonics’s initial monthly output reaches some 100,000 units, mostly exported.
Institutional investors indicated that about 200 million units of various LED lightings are in demand worldwide every year, which represent huge business opportunities valued at over NT$60 billion. Under the scenario, Nan Ya Photonics is very likely to become a profit contributor for both Epistar and Nan Ya Plastics.
