Taiwan-based LED maker Epistar has partnered with China Electronics Corp. (CEC) to build a joint venture, which will bring in a large number of MOCVD chambers, and concentrate on production of epitaxial wafers, chips, light sources and lighting products in southern China.
It's reported that each company will hold a 45% stake in the joint venture, leaving the remaining 10% to another partner.
Most of the production will be available in CEC's LCD panels, monitors, TVs and lighting.
It's considered that the partnership would further enhance Epistar`s share of the global market for LED backlights, because of CEC`s massive demand.
Therefore, the Epistar-CEC venture will bring about a win-win situation to both sides by securing the former an enormous business chance and helping the latter enhance integration of a supply chain of LED chips and backlights.
